my 530ck,case-o -matic, acts like it has a diff lock. I never knew it had one and somehow engaged it? up in the air with outriggers down, the left wheel rotates freely, while left one locks hard inside. if I pull the direct dive lever down it just stalls. ssame thing in reverse. trhe right brake pedal spring was missing but after fixing that it is still locked. its not brakes dragging, the trany/diff is locked. any help would be appreciated greg

THE good news is no diff lock. I popped the brake hub off the side of the tractor and the insides are trash. it just fell apart.I guess there were some big ball bearings in the cups, eveything must have got ground to dust.the inner piece is still attached,is this a splined piece, comes off with a puller?do I rebuild the inner drum assembly or is it replace the entire inner hub? any help would be appreciated--greg

You can replace any of the componets seperatly.
You will need a rivet press if you plan to replace the liners and not the drums.
What do the ramps where the four balls run look like? What do the two housings look like?
Are the componets soaked in oil?

I got the plate off,{inside disc.}the one inch steel balls fell out in the dirt.there was no oil to speak of.I checked online for the drum assembly, thesplined disc with balls inside of drum,160.00 and they also give me the outside brake pads.I can reuse my outside cover piece. the old assembly just looks too far gone to reline. the disk lining isn't too worn, the bands are trash, all the springs are gone. maybe it will look better in the morning. greg

I just realized that the part schematic shows the drum against the plate that is shimmed off the trany case. when I took mine apart the brake drum fell off as soon as I pulled the outside cover.that left the splined disc still attached.which way is the right way. splined disc against tractor or hub. on my cover piece the hub rubbed against the inside. thanks for your help greg

The diagram in the manual is incorrect.
Check your differential and make sure the gear lube is at the correct level. If it is leave the seal alone. If it is low correct the level and make sure the seal is not leaking. Also check the diff lock seal if you are working on the right side. Do not drive the tractor without the brake housing in place. Install the splined side against the side plate (opposite of the picture). Your drum fell apart because the springs that hold them together are broken. Use a wire through the small hole in the drum and under the hook in the spring to pull it in place. Put no lube on any of the parts. When you get it back together drive it with a slight amount of pressure on the pedal to seat the pads. They sometimes stick now that they have taken the aspestos out of them. That sounds like a pretty good price. It sounds like you have all of the part numbers. Let me know if you need them. Good luck

thanks for your input.collins in oregon has the disc with drum on the way. it includes the bands and springs that hold them. the drum is all together ready to put in. this differential lock thing,I did not know about it,and do not know if this machine has one.where do I look for it?{tractor manual was ordered yesterday} there was no dripping so the seal and o-ring must be working. four of the five shims under the bearing carrier were still good. it has been a good machine.it lived in a graveyard in its previous life and came with a special made "crypt width bucket". I gave 4000 for it with 3 buckets. for a gas machine its saves my back a lot of work. thanks for the help greg

You'll notice the shims are for bearing preload & backlash adjustment? I'd say you damaged the seal to when you pulled the bearing carrier over the splines?

You will know if you have a differential lock if there is a small housing mounted on the outside of the right brake housing with a locking coller in it that pivots on a fork. It has five 5/16 bolts and one countersunk allen head bolt holding it in place. Some tractors do not have it. If you removed backing plate (that holds the seal) you should replace the seal and cover the splines on the side gear as you are reinstalling the plate. Put all of the shims back in place.
