Finally have the time and opportunity to plow with the old pig. It has a mounted 3x16 Case plow on, minus the coulters. Plowing up a 4 year alfalfa field. Never "set up" a plow before, and had my fair share of troubles getting that down. Wouldn't have thought that small of a plow would be able to turn the 830 sideways, but it can. Completely different ballgame than a 2390 on an IH 710 or 20 with 5-18s. Bent the he!! out of the threaded adjustable arm on the 3 pt. trying to force the plow to where I thought it should be. Got that straightened back out and noticed that bar with the 3 pt. pins on it slides back and forth.... that would have been nice to know. Now it pulls nice and straight, plow fills in perfectly. I can pull it in 3rd low direct, and on the hilltops c-o-m is necessary. The guy I'm doing it for has a 7800 JD with 5-18s and was having trouble keeping his front end on the ground. He also has a 620 with mounted 3x14 JD plow that did a beautiful job, but he said he wasn't doing the whole field that way. So now he can combine his beans, and I can play on the old 830. It's fun, and I've learned as I've went along, but I guess 40 acres is enough for me.

I got my dads 4-14 st semi mount out last year after 25 years, when we last used it Dad ran the 830 with this plow and I ran our 1800 Oliver with a Case 4-14 pull type. I had never used this plow so like you, it me a bit to get it set, but worked good after that.
