There are dozens of shops that re-pour babbit in the US. I understand that you can even buy them from Case, if your pockets are deep enough?? Some guys even re-pour their own. In Cambodia we machine the rod and relace the babbit with a repalcable bearing from a Russian truck. Post the area you are from, and someone will come back with a machine shop in your area. The mains are replaceable, but need to be line bored, Don't just slap them in unless you want a broken crankshaft. There are re-poured rods available as well. I suggest you contact john Salei.

I am in southeastern Indiana. I am more interested in rod bearing inserts than rebabbiting these rods, but cannot find a kit or a proper bearing. I work at a tool and die shop so any machineing I can do. The mains are fine, they have been plastic gauged.I made a fixture for the rods and tryed to pour them myself but got very inconsitant results. The babbit was approx .060 thick by my measurements. I found a shop in Illinios that would pour them,With no shims for $100.00 a rod. This is not a show tractor. I square bale approx 4,000 bale a year and need this tractor to work with. I bought a farmall 560 hopeing to have two tractors to work with, when hercules (the old case) blew up. It is a 1952 case dc3 with a dc4 wheatland wf,eaglehitch converted to a very heavy duty 3pt. Any help names or phone #s would be a very big help.

I wish I could send you some inserts, but we turn them out of a 1000 CI Russin V-8 Diesel cam shaft bearing, and each one is fitted to the crankshaft journal, as they all have to be turned down some to get them round. DC-Tom is in your area, as is Ed Axthelm, 419-864-4959. Post for DC Tom, and ask him, he may know of a set, also Ed might just have a decent set of used rods for a lot less money. The babbit will hold up a long time and, as Tom says, is very forgiving. If you decide to give up on the tractor, I'd be interested in it. [email protected] LOL!
