Ready for first start of 188 diesel, now what?!

Ok, Just about everything is back together and I'm getting real close to starting the engine for the first time.

Any tips or suggestions on what to do before trying to start it up? I'm assuming I should bleed the fuel system up through the injector pump to make sure fuel is flowing that far. Should I loosen the injector feed lines at the injectors while cranking or something similar?

Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Brad

Break all the lines at the injectors and crank it. After you get fuel out, tighten them up. I like to recheck the engine oil level at this time. Then start it up for about two or three seconds and shut it off and recheck the oil and refill. Then you are ready to go.

Thanks for the info, sounds easy enough. I'm hoping to crank it over sometime late this week. I'll report back at that time.

Thanks,

Brad

Hey Brad: Don't forget to Re-Torque that Head Gasket like CASE says.

Hmm, didn't know about re-torquing the head. I'm assuming you do that after so many hours of run time. Which then stands to reason I'll have to re-adjust the rocker arms to correct the potential change in tappet clearance.

Thanks for the info,

Brad
