This is my first post to the Case board. Thought people might like to see the old lunker we picked up at an auction this summer. Just got it home today. By the serial number it is a 1940 year. Bought it for parts to restore another L that has been in the family since new. However, this one is in better shape (by far!) than the one we want to restore, so we will not likely part it out.

Of interest to me and other Case people is the factory battery box with light switch and ammeter, just ahead of the left fender. I have never seen an L with this. There are also holes and wiring clips on the fenders for lights. Oddly, there is provision for electric starter, but it has never had one. I believe it would have had the generator/mag combo? Is this uncommon? What kind of lights would an L have and how hard are they to find?

I could post a pic of the battery box if anyone is interested.

By the way, after we bought it we found, much to our delight that the motor was not seized.

Purchase price was the only bid, $50.00

Nice piece. The electric start L's should be considered fairly rare. The plug in the starter hole is fairly common cause the starter was still a option. I believe the battery box lid was actually made of wood. I made one out of steel though and may leave it that way. The head lights could of been the large 8" guide headlights or possibly the 6" do to the year of yours. These can be found on Ebay and i have bought 2 pairs there myself. These 8" lights are not cheep! With the battery box it would of had the mag generator combo that can also be found on early LA's I believe. I am posting a picture of my 1931 CINT for reference.

What baloon? I stated that the picture is for reference and it is a CINT. "C" Industrial Narrow Tread!

Chances R,

What the heck is a CINT? Never seen one before and couldn't find anything in my books. Looks like it may be rare.

What does the INT stand for?

"C" Industrial Narrow Tread. I believe this may be the only one left. It would be useless on the farm so most probally got scraped over the years. This was used to brush a ice skating rink for many years in Saint Paul MN.

Great deal! Just curious...What is the weight rating on your trailer? How does your truck handle the load? Truck a V8? Thanks, Glenn F.

It is a 20 ft. equipment trailer with two 7000 lb. axles. the truck is F-350 with a Powerstroke diesel. It handled this load easily. The only problem with this kind of trailer is that some types of tractors will not fit between the fenders, eg: F-20 Farmall
