I'm down to the last few details of finishing the 188 diesel installation in my 530CK. The o-rings and seals that came with my rebuild gasket kit don't match up exactly with what was originally on the engine.

I've attached a picture with each of the o-rings/seals laid out and I'm hoping someone out there can help me identify them.

Starting at the bottom:

Row 1 has (4) 3/8" ID x 9/16" OD nylon rings.

Row 2 has (4) 5/16" ID x 3/8" OD nylon rings.

Row 3 has (3) 3/4" OD washers with rubber inserts.

Row 4 has (2) 3/4" ID x 1" OD o-rings and (1) 3/4" ID x 1" OD copper washer.

Row 5 has (3) 3/8" ID x 9/16" OD o-rings

Row 6 has (1) 1-1/16" ID x 1-1/4" OD o-ring and (2) 7/8" ID x 1-1/8" OD copper crush washers.

The plastic bag on the bottom left has (8) 9/32" ID x 3/8" OD flat rubber rings.

The plastic bag on the top left has (8) 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD steel rings. I think these are the sealing washers where the copper injection lines fasten to the injection pump.

Also included in the gasket rebuilt set were (4) 3/16" ID flat rubber rings that matched what was used in the injector return line fittings at the injectors.

There were also (4) 5/16" ID flat rubber rings that matched what was used in the rest of the injector return line fittings from the pump to the fuel tank.

I have a hunch that the (4) large nylon rings are for use at the injector feed tubes. However the original fittings used rubber seals. The nylon washers appear to be a little thinner. I haven't tried them as yet. Figured I'd ask for help!

Needless to say any help here sorting this out would be greatly appreciated!

Brad

Brad,

Rows 1 &2 are for pencil injectors and you
have bigger old style (much better and rebuildable),
the bag with the steel rings are for inj lines at
the pump, the bag of flat rubber rings are valve
stem seals. The copper washer should be oil pan
drain plug although it could be for timing window
plug in bellhousing . Large oring in top row should be to mount inj pump . Also did you put in the oring between theoil pump body and the side of the crankcase? holler at me later.

Thanks George.

I got the o-ring installed on the injector pump with no problems. There are about another hundred minor details to wrap up before I get it running. I'm hoping mid next week to try and start it up.

I rebuilt the power steering pump last night and after cleaning everything up but before bolting the back cover on it turned nice and smooth. But once I torqued down the back plate it tighted up again. I'm going to check my torque settings and see if I did it to tight. Other than that I couldn't find anything wrong. Oh well.....

Thanks again,

Brad
