I know this is a little off topic here in away. But, I really trust you all. I have been asked to attempt to be voted in for a president of a local small club. This little club hosts a small show each year. Over the last few years things have been going south in a hand bag. My friends asked me to sort of step in and help to get things going again. I have been in the parts business for years and have a good reputaion and fallowing amount many around my area. I also are on great terms with alot of local possible sponsor/dealerships too. So, my question is, would you step in and help a die cause or just let it go. I already have support form a bunch of the members of the club also the wife is ready to help out too.
Thanks trusted friends.

Having been involved with running a club a few years back, my feeling is it takes more than one person. You can do it for a while, but you get burnt out in a hurry. You can't be afraid of "leaning" on the others in the group for support and don't try to do it all yourself. Make sure everybody involved has the same idea of what the group wants to acomplish and it can be a lot of fun as well as a lot of work. Oterwise, it is a receipe for disaster and the hard feelings can last for years.

Bob;
Don"t give up. I am from the SE Wi club and we are having our show this weekend. {fallharvestdays.com}. The oak creek show was in your shoes a while ago. There show was in june. With alot of poor support, it was mooved to 1st weekend in oct. The first year they doubled there attendance. These guys were ready to close up shop and all join our club. I think it is the timming of it all.

Bob, I read you question and went on to another forum. Then the more I thought about it I thought I might answer you. Now remember this is just my opinion, so just discard it if you like.

I do not know you and I do not know your show, so I am a outsider.

Here in central ILL, IND. & OHIO. there are shows that are having the same problem as your show. (too many shows and poor atendance)

Maybee you can see where I am going here, but with every small town/four corners having a show every year ( corn days, pumpkin festival, spring flower show, firemans fund raiser, whatever, you get the idea), there is just to many for the number of people to attend them all.
People get tired of the same thing all the time so some turn to car raceing, others to horses, hot air balloons, etc.

Some times, as with other things in life, the strong survive and the weaker things fade away.

All I am saying is, do you feel like Super Man or that you can pull a rabbit out of a hat, then go for it. But weigh all sides. IMHO

Hope this helps.

I know excactlly what you are saying Oliver fan. I have thought of that side too. My feelings is that this little show could be better if it got more support. I just ggot home last night from my local county show last night. The heat hurt it big time. But, on the other hand look at the national oliver show at Baraboo this year. It was my first time selling there. I done great. It seems now days the shows that are big draw more support year after year and everyone just forgets about the little shows.

Absolutely go for it...

Just like restoring a tractor, if you have enough parts to make it run and roll, why let it rust into the ground?

If you have the right people involved, you can make it into a great show.
