Anyone know what it takes to replace the ring and pinion in a 1070 power shift? Cost? Amount of time to do repair? How big of project is this going to be? (I want to do it myself)
I realize the tractor must be split to remove the pinon shaft, but how would I go about removing the bevel ring gear? Is it removed from the top, back, or rear of the tranny? Must I remove the cab and axels to get to it?

split tractor at motor. remove powershift. remove pto housing. remove axel nuts. jack axels out. remove bull gears. remove brakes and housings. remove diff cross shaft. this takes a 30 ton portapower. roll diff out back. remove nuts on front of pinion shaft. will take 40 hours or more. don't do it without book. So I should be able to leave cab and platform on tranny?

We left the cabs on and worked around them. You may have to remove the draft sensing shaft out of the rockshaft housing to roll the diff out the back.
