I've got a 530CK (TLB) which is great but really need to be able to use a box scraper for road work. I'm interested in anyone's experiences in doing the same thing. I'd like to find a mod hitch but no one seems to know what I'm talking about. I suppose I could try for a complete eagle hitch but that seems overkill.

I've been given an old Towner scraper and if nothing else I'll fab up something and give it a whirl. Seems like a couple of turnbuckles to attach to the bottom and something across the top of the backhoe mount to attach a hydraulic cylinder. I could probably just add a bypass valve to one of the two hydraulic levers for the bucket to control the cylinder.

Any thoughts?

I have to assume that you have the CK without a hoe on the back. The bare tractor came from the factory with 3 point hitch. So the easy way is to find a CK parts donor. I have seen a few with the loader and 3ph. Look in the parts book on pages 118 thru 125. HTH George

Hi George.

I didn't know that a CK ever came without the hoe. I do have the hoe on mine. Since it is relatively easy to detach, I want to have a setup where I either use the hoe or detach it and use the box scraper. I'm planning on using the elements of the hoe attachment points for attaching the scraper. I understand that the early 580CK had what they called a mod hitch which attached to the hoe points and had a separate control valve and eagle/3pt setup. I'd love to find one of those.

Wow, I learnt something from this too! That 3ph set up would be neat to have, never seen one. It'd be nice to see a post from someone who had that 3ph unit you mention. The #32 hoe could be put on if the lower lift link is unhooked. I have seen 3 530CKs with a loader on front and a weight hung on the 3ph. Case made a weight to fit on 3ph, it shows all that in the owners manual for the hoe, just opened the book and there it is on p. 77. Manual is #9-1215. Oop, there on p.79 is a pix of and instructions on" Installing backhoe on units with Draft-o-matic hitch." Looks like much of the external parts can stay on the tractor. Next page shows how counterweight attaches with the 3ph on the tractor,it did not use the link arms to mount. Looks like early 580 were similiar. George S.
