530CK fuel filter and clutch questions

I just bought an old 530CK that needs some TLC. This is my first diesel.

1. When I replaced the secondary fuel filter with the same type from Case (part #A51346) the 2 rubber seals that came with the new filter (they go on top of and on bottom of the filter) are too big to seal my top and bottom filter housings. Anyone else had this problem?

2. Also this machine has the torque converor/shuttle shift. The torque covertor seems weak and the gauge on the dash shows that the "clutch pressure" is lower than the green range. What could cause this? A clogged trans filter? Where is the trans filter located?

3. Finally, what does the small button just to the right of the key do? Also what is the lever on the right side of the steering wheel for? It has 3 positions- a turn signal?

If anyone has an owners/service manual for sale, I would be interested.

Thanks for any help!

2. The filter is in front of the RAD, Steel container with 4 bolts on top. Looking from the front its lower right

3. The button is most likely PRE heat The lever on Right is Case-o-matic Torque converter control, 2 position.. Down is Direct Drive. The clutch will reset the lever to the UP position.

Good Luck,

Thanks very much for the info Phil. I can see that I REALLY need to get a repair manual.

So, since the trans filter is next to the hydraulic pump, does that mean that the hydraulic pump actually fills the torque convertor with hydraulic fluid from the loader?

When I took the filter back to the Case dealer and showed the guys there how it couldn't seal like the old filter beacause it was shaped differently, they said "Case must have redesigned it, and the chages they made were bad for you" Luckily an auto parts store cross referenced the number and gave me one that worked perfectly.

Wil, the pump in front of the radiator is strictly for the bucket and hoe and filter is on top of loader frame ( right side when sitting on machine ). The hyd. oil is housed inside loader frame. The torque conv. pump is bolted to underside of convertor top plate. Trans. oil is housed inside torque tube, completely separate from loader"s. You"re right. Get a service manual! Gary

and the oil is cooled by the RAD, with the filter
located in front of rad.....

That makes more sense now- that the trans filter is up by the rad just to cool the fluid. I'll have to change that filter next.

Thanks guys!
