I ran into a VAC-15 with a serial number that started with an 80 etc. It looks exactly like a VAC-14. Is this a mistake, or did they make this model? What is the difference between it and a VAC-14?

The front end is narrower and the front spindles are shorter. I believe the rear axle housing is narrower than a VAC-14. The fenders are different also, the lights are mounted low in front of the front axle.On page 223 of Full Steam Ahead,Erb has miss identified a VAC-15 as a VAC-14.If you see these tractors side by side, you will quickly see the difference. The VAC 14 is a low-platforn version of the VAC 13 which replaced the earlier adjustable widefront VAC. The VAO 15 was a low-platform, orchard type version of the VAC 13. Based on the older VAO it had a shortened steering column, lowered seat and platform and adjustable front and rear tread width.

I have only seen two 15's and they were low profile VAO's. Check the tag, should be Rock Island built and 60?

Tom, what was the difference between a 14 and a 15? I looked as close as I could and it sure looked like an "80". Did Case ever make an "80" series of serial numbers? Do you have VAC build cards?
