Recently picked up a 1338 case L ( according to the serial number). Having looked at pictures of other Case L's in the thirties, they all have a square front (where the CASE logo is. Mine is rounded. Could Canadian Case L's be styled differently. I have digital picts but don't know to post them here. Will send to interested responders or if someone can help me post them on this forum I will.

Thanks

KD

That's an LA. Even the Model Ls that came out after the LA hit the market had the square top radiator. But even the fuel tank in the picture is rounded, signifying that that's an LA.

If nothing else, try to get the complete serial number and have DCTom look it up for you...

What is the serial number. Never heard of a rounded nose L. Would surely like to see a picture. Do you have your pictures loaded to your pc?

I'd wonder where you got the number from on the machine.

If you took it off the block it could indicate someone harvested the engine or block from an ealier L, They were exactly the same inside and out except for starter provisions.

If you got the number from the tag on the dash, I'd find that rather confusing. Surely someone didnt restyle an old L and change the tag too?

If the tag is present, does it say "L" or"LA"?

There should be a number on the rear flange of the engine on the left side. It is the same as the tag number - assuming it's the original block. post it and we can tell You. But it's a '39 or later LA by the pics. Does it have a 4th gear??

That's what I thought? The L had 3 speeds and LA had 4. Pic looks like a LA to me too.

Sounds like it is something different or a L by the number but still looks like LA?? LA numbers started at 5400001 according to blue book I have. You should let DCTom look it up for you to see what build card says?
