Question for DCTom

DCTom,

I remember a post a long time ago about your method for unsticking a engine. Something about hooking up hyd. to a spark plug hole and forcing the piston down.

How do you make the adapter for this? Weld a hollowed out spark plug to a hyd. fitting? Do you think a DC will have enough hyd. pressure to unstick another DC?

Thanks,
Case1950

case 1950, yes that is what i use, knock the porcelin out of a spark plug and weld on a 1/2 " coupling, i have put a 5/8nut on top of the releif spring in the hyd pump and have plenty of pressure, you must make sure the valves are closed ahd hold and the piston is up i have broke a lot of tractors loose this way from a g jd to a vac case and all in between tom

I will give it a shot. I"m going to let the tractor soak a few more weeks and try out your method. Sounds like a great idea to me.

Thanks,

I knew a guy who broke a crankshaft on a 2 cylinder JD doing that. He told me to disconnect the connecting rod before trying it. Of course it was a JD and that might be why it broke. I would think the line on a compression tester would also work.
