I need to replace the clutch and cant find a point in the steering linkage to take it apart when I split the tractor. Is there a spline shaft somewhere or do you take a u-joint apart on the steering shaft? Any help is appreicated. Thanks, davids

You don't need to unhook any steering. If it has the short peddles tie the pedal back to the seat. Otherwise it will flop over center and smash your hand, break the pedal or both. Unhook the throttle linkage on the right side of the block' at the back of the block. Unhook the front partof the floorboard from the rest of the floorboard, two bolts. Make L shaped bracket to bolt on top of rocker arms. With all thread running up through the whole that was the back center bolt on the hood. Unbolt four bolts holding down the steering sector and use the allthread to hold up the dash, steering sector, front of floor board etc. Also you needed to unhook the high-low under the front of the floor board. Raise up just a couple of inches and it will all clear the bell housing and will roll forward with the motor. Be sure and put blocks under each side at the front end so it doesn't fall over.

Take the roll pin out of the last (most foward) joint, steering box shaft. Then take the carrier bearing loose, that should give you enough play to remove the shaft from the steering box shaft. Its not splined but it is keyed. hth
