Okay rookie here again. I have what I am told is a Case 530 tractor. I have been wokring through several things that my late father had neglected over the years. Now I'm done to the carb and need to find a rebuild kit for a Zenith. The inner number that is on the round brass tag reads 12255. I can only read part of the outter number. From what I have learned this kit is no longer available from Zenith. Any help or suggestions would be great...

12255 ?? That number doesn't even show up in the Zenith books. Are you sure it's not 12522 which kits are available for. If you have the right number I can tell if it's available and may have it.

Glen that's the number that is on the tag. Unlike the number that is on the edge, this one I can read. And on the air intake it has the zenith name.

I asked because with something like a 530 the number should show up in Zenith book under current carbs or obsolete carb list too and that number is not. Charts showed a Marvel Schebler TSX-799 being replaced by a Zenith 14996. Most kits or a substitute is available for even the obsolete carbs. Good luck at NAPA and if they can't help you might try V.E. Petersen by Toledo since they would be closer to you. 800-537-6212.

Glen now keep in mind, I was told by my late father that it is a 530. I have used the 530 information to get other parts and have not had a problem but I also am aware that a lot of the parts on the 30 series are interchangable. I wish that someone could tell me exactly how to make the determination on the year and on the model.

Well, let me know if the number you had works out for a kit. I was just wondering if you had the wrong number off carb as that happens a lot. It could have been a short production carb that they changed right away to something else? Those ones aren't always listed in our Zenith book. Had one like that on a Moline recently and just had to call the factory and the local warehouse had the kit. The guys on this forum can help with year. I might can if you give me a serial number. It should be on a tag on the dash someplace? My old '99 blue book has 530,531,540,541 being made in 1960-69 with a 159 CI gas engine. I'm familar with them as we use to have a 430 gas and the tag on it said 431 or 441?

I think the # was just on a tag usually in the dash area on the 30 series but I'm not sure if if it would elsewhere other than the tag.

Glen it looks like the tag has been removed. I found 2 pan screws on the side of the dash that are about 2" apart and look like the kind tha twould be used to attach the tag. Out of lick there I suppose.

The carb kit that I got from NAPA looks like the right one. I gave themthe 12255 number and the standard motor number and they were able to cross both of them to the same NAPA kit number. I'll be putting the carb back together this evening and hopfully it'll be as uneventful as the tear down.

Well, that's too bad the tag is missing. I don't know if any of these other guys can tell you age by any engine numbers or that sort of thing or not? Someone with the right parts book might could even use that carb number to ID? Glad you found the kit and hope it works well for you.

Just rebuilt the Zenith carb on my 530 and it runs great. Gave the carb numbers to a great guy at my favorite NAPA store and had the kit in two days.

Thanks Allan I'll have to give them a call. This will be the first time that I'm trying to rebuild a tractor carb. Got any good suggestions or advice?

I'm about 25 miles east of Akron or about 45 miles southeast of Cleveland. Why do you ask?
