I have a model "D" with PTO but no hydraulics. What would be involved to get hydraulics? Any chance of adding live PTO while I'm at it.
This is a D not a DC.

Here's how I added live hydraulics to my 43 SC which just has the motor lift. Remove the generator and add an automotive type power steering pump in its place (I used a saginaw type vane pump off of a late 70's GM truck)- I am not sure how much room there is on a D, but with the sc I had to cut out part of the sheet metal around where the generator was to give enough room for the PS pump. You will need to weld a small pulley onto the original ps pulley that will accomidate your wider fan belt. Next add some hoses and a log spitter type valve and you will have live hydraulics.

The drawbacks- you will need to charge your battery after working the tractor and running many hours with lights on might drain the batt enough to stall he tractor. The GPM of most ps pumps is on the low side so your implements will raise and lower fairly slowly but the pressure relife is around 1000 psi so you will be able to use smaller cylinders that require less gpm to work than the old low pressure 600 psi systems. Your resivoir should be about 1 gallon so you will need to add an additional resivor on top of the pump's intrgrated resvoir if you use a pump like mine ( I used a plastic one gallon juice jug).

This system runs my old manure front end loader fine (but slowly). It has 2 3" cylinders and i have had over 1000 lbs of concrete bags on the loader (enough to cause the front tires to flatten and make steering VERY difficult) and the hydraulics would lift it while the engine was idling.

What year is it?? I is very difficult to add live hydraulics to a pre-1952 Case D or DC. You can add hydraulics easily to a pre-1952, by replacing the rear transmission cover with one from a 1949-51 DC or D with hydralics, but they will not be live.

That's good! Chances are you have the sprocket on the PTO shaft, all you need is a hydralucic pump, levers and a new rear cover plate.
