Wandering if the David Brown 1200 is a good tractor? Is there anything to look for? How hard are parts to come by? The tractor needs a hood and nose, some leaks, smokes a little, needs tires, clutch and tranny ok (not a selectomatic), what is it worth? Thanks for all your help.

Hey Andymc, My Dad had a 1200 DB that went up in a barn fire, and it was the best dang tractor I've ever seen.Period.The hydraulics were a bit iffy at times thanks to the way It "floats"....draft control. The engine never failed to start, the only seriour thing we had to do to it was a new clutch and they can be swapped w/o breaking the tractor in half. It was easy on fuel too,for a 65hp tractor.

sheet metal may be hard to find. a few tractor junkyards have David Browns. Case dealers handle some parts. $2000 to 6000 depending on your location and condition. tires could cost up to $1000 or more. will the PTO engage? PTO clutchs can be expensive.
