My husband is looking at buying a Case 680CK serial number 9102050 backhoe loader. I have been trying to find info about what year this one is. the only serial numbers I can find on the web are higher numbers than the one he gave me, even a general time frame would be good, 60's 70's... He was also wanting to know is this one an "odd model" (for parts) There is a problem with the power steering pump. The motor has less than 50 hours since a major overhaul. The people are selling it because of health reasons and can no longer work with it. They are asking $7500 for it. Can anyone tell me if this is a good price. He says that it is but I was wanting any input from others who know more about machinery than I do. Also does anyone know of any problems that are typical to this machine?

Reading serial numbers is not an exact science. That 2 could actually be a 7. In any case, it is a 1969, 1970 or 1971. The actual year is probably unimportant.

There is a guy in Pennsylvania selling a 580 on Ebay. He has a starting bid of $7000 and has been listed for 5 of a seven day listing. He has not gotten a bid. The auction is 4559517833. Have a look at it. It is a good runner but not recently rebuilt.

Power steering pump repair is not usually a low cost repair.
