My Case 1070 has been running flawlessly and now I am experiencing an annoying problem. The last two times I have used the tractor, it seems to run out of fuel and quits. I have plenty of fuel onboard. I open the bleeder screw on the injector pump and use the hand priming pump and it pumps fuel ok. Then the engine will start and run normally again. Both times it has happened, the temp outside was in the upper 90's and I was using the tractor with a 9ft Khun cutter, cutting hay. Just before the problem occured each time the engine seemed to change tone and seemed to get sluggish right before it quits. The fuel filters are pretty new with only about 30 hrs on them. The diesel is fresh and clean from the wholesaler. Any pointers would be much appreciated!

Both of the replys are corect. The only thing other than what they have said is that the return line to the fuel tank could have a restriction and this would cause the same problem.

If you do all preceding checks an still tractor will not run you need to check pressure transfer pump puts out . MaybeD Kase or someone knows . i am not sure but i think about 35 psi to main pump. (reling on old memory} correct me if iam wrong

In addition to what Dcase said you should remove fuel line at primer pump . You should have a full stream of fuel especally if tank is full. Ifit does not continually run full you need to take line off at tank an very carefully remove fitting on tank. There is a pencil filter in tank that can get plugged from dirt an bacteria(black stuff) We threw . . it away an put old glass filter on Be careful not to break adapter loose from composite part of tank.filter is about 3 inches long an size of pencil

If the problem is not the filters it could be 2 things. The line could be plugged between the tank and the primimg pump. This should cause a vacuum at the primimg pump. The second possibility would be a air leak in the same line or the priming pump that is allowing air in. This is usually worse with a low fuel level in the tank. Good Luck DK
