First, I want to thank everyone that gave me advice on rebuilding the 188 diesel engine. It works great.

However, now after over 30 hours of great working, the movement of the tractor in second gear went from normal to slow, and then no movement in about 100 feet.. And now it will not move in any gear forward or reverse. I also notice that if I shift the gears while in forward (or reverse), it dose not grind like it would before, which tells me the input shaft to the transmission does not rotate at all after the shuttle shift.

Checked the fluid level and it is normal. Replace it when I rebuilt the engine with Hydraulic tractor oil.

I checked the shift linkage and the clutch linkage and it looks ok.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Mark

Found the problem:
1) Screen on pump pick-up tube torn apart.
2) Pump Relief Valve held open by debris.
3) Pump gear woodruff key sheared.

Here is some added information. I loosened the oil lines to and from the filter/cooler and there is only a slight drip (no pressure). I checked the clutch pressure and there is not any. Would this indicate that there is a pump problem only?

And would this be repairable without a split? I can repair the pump where the tractor is currently located as long as it does not require a split, but I will need to move the tractor to do a split. And I do not want to remove the tank, steering, and brake assembly to find out I need to split the tractor.

Thanks,

Mark
