The casting number on the late Case built VAC block is VT-328.

Don't quote me because I am not at my desk but if I remember right.

A block casting number of VT-179 = Continental & a casting number in the 300's = Case.

I was told that this was done because of the war and shortage of facilities.

The engines were built by Continental to J.I. Case specifications. The Case and Continental engines are the same in the VAC.

All VAC's used overhead valve engines. This is a Case designed engine. Continental built the engine for Case from 1942 to 1948 when Case took over the production. There are virtually no differences in the engines... Gene

A Continental engine will be a flathead and the Case engine will be an overhead valve ( tin valve cover on the top of engine).
