Case 430 stalls

I have a gasoline 1963 Case 430. I recently changed spark plugs , installed a new coil, electronic ignition kit to replace the points and a new radiator as part of refurbishing it (coil and ign. kit are Ignitors from this YT site). I start the tractor, and if I let it idle to 1000 rpm, it eventually shuts down and won't restart until I let it cool down (coolant temperature gauge reads a max temp. of 180-190F when running; I don't think the fan belt slips). Next, I'm thinking about replacing my wires on spark plugs and Coil-to-distributor. Any thoughts, anyone?

If you are sure fuel and spark are not the issue, I would check compression in each cyl after is stalls out. Could be a heat related head gasket problem? Does it do anything wierd before it shuts down, white smoke or missing? Let us know what you find.

Thanks. However, this is why I replaced the coil when I got the tractor, because it was also stalling then...

Can we assume that when the engine stalls and won't start, you've checked fuel supply versus spark, and are certain this is an electrical problem and not a fuel problem?

Ed; Larry;

Thanks for your answers... well, I plowed for an hour or so yesterday evening, and it went well. After I wrote my initial post, I checked the fuel and the tank was almost empty (down to the recessed compartment at fuel tank bottom. There was frost on the carburetor outlet to cylinders at the last stall (mixture too lean?). I'll make sure I have more than enough gas, and will check the fuel filter so it does not create a restriction. I sure hope it's as easy as this! Thanks again for the support - will let y'all know...

Hello, I have a similar problem. I'll be cutting fields for over an hour and the tractor just putters to a stop. Usually I wait a 1/2 hr and it starts. Now it won't start at all.(1969 case 430 gas)
