I have a Case 1957. On the id tag it says model 425, but on the tractor itself it says model 400. I was wondering exactly what it was so I can find a manual for it. I can't seem to find a picture that resembles it anywhere. It has a loader attachment on it, and no attachment to tow with. Also the hydralic fluid tank is mounted on the front in front of the radiator. I was wondering is this a modified model 400 or what is it? And what manual can I get that will aid me in rebuilding the clutch?

425 is the industrial gas version of the 400. There were 80 of them made in 1957. Any book for the round nose 400 would have the information that you need. Good Luck DK

If I'm incorrect, someone can help me out, but I'll try to answer your question. Your tractor is a model 400. The 2 and 5 represent Wheel setup (high lift, utility, row crop, wide front, narrow front, etc) and engine type (diesel, gas, propane). I've not familiar with 425s. Popular 400 models in my area were 411, 401. The loader could be an aftermarket installment, but most aftermarket loaders had the oil reservoir in the right side loader mount beam. ~Dan

I believe this is a model 425 industrial unit. That would explain the lack of ag hitch equipment. Don't know a lot about them except that they were a model unto themselves with their own parts book.
