Looks like I"m going to be swapping tractors with Sky. He gets the VAC, I get the Farmall A w/mower. Who knows, maybe some day we"ll trade back.

Those mowers on those Farmalls do a good job mowing. Do you have a lot of arm strength to raise this mower or does this Old Farmall A have one of those vacuum lifts that works off the exhaust? My dad's 1948 VAC has a Case-Detroit rear mower on it.

Wow, trading a VAC for an A? How much are you getting to boot, I would think it would have to a lot to get me to let go of my Case for a toy Farmall! They make mowers to fit VAC, all kinds of them.

Ah, I'll get another VAC some day, not to worry!
This A is in much better shape than the VAC, even though it's 11 years older.

His name is Fred. I'm not sure why Sky has him parked in the woods like that.

Hey Les,

Looks like old Sky was trying to cut brush. That A and mower is a mowin' little set up even if it is an IH. Dad rented one like that from a neighbor to cut hay with and put me on it when I was a "whipper snapper". It aint no vac though.

Hey, Have fun.

Good morning Les, Good luck w/ your new tractor. On another note, are there any places to stay up there that will allow a small dog? The wife wants to make a weekend of it...( the weekend of your show that is)

I'll have to look into that. We don't allow dogs in the campground. My brother is VERY strict on that.
Not sure how fancy you wanna get. There are a couple of very simple and reasonable priced motels just across the river, not more than a mile from the tractor show. Would you like me to investigate them? One ain't open yet. The other one is open year 'round.
Of course if you go up to Lincoln, there are tons of places, from spartan to ornate. What's your pleasure?

I believe you can get a room at the nearby motels for about $40/night.

I ran 2 3" angle iron mounts off the back of my VAI and hitched a 27V IHC mower to it. Dismal failure for 2 reasons- #1, As far as I'm concerned the IH mower is just plain junk, no matter what you do to it. New everything and it still wouldn't cut well. #2- the VAI 1st gear is about half again as fast as it should be. Darn thing just goes too fast for feild work. Just my 2 cents.
