After about 2 minutes tractor starves for fuel. Went thru carb twice, have good flow out of the tank. The needle valve sure has a small hole in it but put another needle valve in it no help. Any suggestions? Russ

I have a 53 VAC that did that. Mine had a elbow coming out if the tank that I replaced with a straight spigot and then hose to the carb. That fixed it. I think crap was catching in the elbow. The tractor had been sitting a long time.

After it sits for a few minutes, will it start back up. If so, sounds like you are using up all the fuel in the carb bowl because gas is not coming in fast enough. If you have the fuel line disconnected again, I would blow air back through the line into the fuel tank just to make sure you don't have rust over the hole in the tank.

Was having a similar problem with my DC. Would idle all day long but only run about a minute at half throttle or better. Had good fuel flow all the way through to the drain cock on the carb. Took a long hard look inside the gas tank and discovered a platic cap sloshing around inside. The cap would almost float but not quite so it must have been moving around quite a bit.

I had a very similar problem with my carb. Turned out that every now and then, the float needle decided to get slightly stuck in the up position and not let any fuel in. I cleaned it up a little with a scotchbrite pad to get it running, but I will be ordering a new float needle that has teflon type plastic tip (also helpful in preventing small fuel drips when you forget to shut the gas off. Incorrect float level will also try to jam the needle into the housing as well.

Ed,

Let me know if you have any luck with the teflon type. I think this is the same problem I'm having. I have a new Zenith 68 carb, new fuel line, new inline filter, new sediment bowl and sealed my tank. I know that this new needle has a lot more slop than my old TSX carb did. Where can you order the teflon needles from?

Thanks,
Eric
