What would be the maximum recommended tire width for the front wheels of a 'D'? I know they are a 16" rim, but I don't know how wide I can go. At some point it will be getting a snowplow and possibly brush forks for the front. I want all the flotation I can get without changing rims. The current front tires are a set of old truck tires.

Mathias, this tractor came with 7.50 - 16. Those are pretty fair sized tires already for a tractor that I believe weighs about 5500. If you put larger tires on it, it may be very hard to steer. I would look for 6 ply tires in 7.50-16 and run the pressure up to about 35 psi instead of typical 25 psi. 6 ply tires will be able to handle the higher pressure. They should be able to carry any load you can put on it and still leave steering manageable. Go with 2 or three rib tractor tires as well. The car/truck tires are hard to steer as well. It isn't only the effort required to steer but the strain you put on the steering system.

I knew too wide a tire would be a problem, but I didn't know where to stop. Thanks for the advise.
