To remind all who care, I was running my 57 roundnose 300 when all of a sudden I lost any and all power. I had to put the tractor in low range, first gear, just to get back to the barn.

I had time tonight to look at it. I started where one would start, the sediment bowl. I took it off, then saw that I had not turned the gas off. I am glad that I made that mistake, because the gas was hardly coming out at all. The flow was about 1/2 the diamater of a pencil. After removing the cork gasket that has been in there for 48 yrs, I took my air compressor and blew back into the tank (this was suggested by someone here THANKS). Then the gas really started to come out. Put it all back to together and all is right with the world.

Tomorrow I will take the tank off and flush it out. My plan is to simply take the nuts off the bottom, and fuel line off. I will take a garden hose and start to flush it out. Is there a better way?

Thanks again to all here

Hi! Since you're going to have the tank off, why don't you look into getting some 2-part tank liner and sealing the inside of your tank for good? You might also consider putting some nuts and bolts inside and shaking it around before you flush it to knock some of the rust loose.I would use gas to flush it with,or else be sure to wipe out all traces of moisture.Either way, have fun with it!I've got a 311b,but at the rate I'm going,I'll not have your problem for a while yet!

I had an H Farmall with a dirty tank and I used a carton of BB's to clean it out. The carton will make a pound butter dish full. I put in a gallon of diesel and the BB's and rocked it back and forth for a couple of hours. It cleaned up to shinney again and has not given any trouble in the last 4 years.
