I am looking at a Case 480B Industrial tractor. It appears to be in nice shape. i bought the industrial guide but it may not get here before the tractor is sold. I just want to make sure it is what is advertised as it does not have any number marking on the tractor. Serial # B4800014B016494 They say it 52 pto hp. Can anybody help? Also is it a case engine or david brown? Thanks Al

To find the correct horse power, see if there's a tag on the motor. 480B's generally have slightly less horsepower (40 horsepower) than 580B's (52 horsepower). If it's a diesel, there isn't enough power difference to notice. They both use the same diesel motor, however the fuel injection pumps are set differently. The 480B gas likely has a 148 or 159 CID motor with approximately 40 horsepower.

Listed production records are from 1966-? for Racine plant and the chassis was more than likely shipped to Burlington plant for modifications I would say that it is then not a David Brown, B series was produced between 71-76 lists a Case 4-390 engine with 63 Hp you may have to call a Case heavy equipment dealer in your area to get ratings unless somone else pipes up
