I have a '57 311. Bought used rim that is 12 x 28. Outside to outside measurement is 13 3/8" (but this Goodyear rim clearly has stamp that says 1228). Tractor now has on it rims that are narrower -- about 11 3/4" outside to outside -- with 12x28 tire on one side and 13.6x28 on the other. 1. What rim size was original on this tractor?

2. Will I have fender problems if I use this rim (and now buy another to match) with new tires?

More than likely your tractor came with 11-28 tires that are now renumbered to 12.4-28. They were sent on 11" rims measuring between the beeds. Alot of people went one size larger when they bought replacement tires and that works OK. So some one changed the orginal tires to 12- 28s and one of them went bad and install the new replacment size for the 12-28 that is now 13.6 x 28. You should be OK to put a 12" rim on one side.

The parts book shows rims for 11X28 and 12X28 tires. It doesn't give the mesurments of the rim though.
