Does anyone know at what year did they change the transmission selection? I understand the early ones were 3 speeds and the later ones were 4 speed. Curious what year they changed this.

8230129,1964 is my 1200, has 3 speed. wish it had the 4 speed. with 3 speed it seems you cant find the right gear too fast or too slow. i think mine is one of the first ones. correct me if i am wrong

The early ones had a six speed, the 1968 buyers guide said it had the new eight speed. I thought it was sooner than 1968. I might find something more tomorrow.
