How many Flambau series tractors, built from 1938-55, do you think are still out there, running or restoreable?? Anyone have a rough idea? Half of them? 25%? What?

In the UK l think about 30% of the flambeau are still around either restored or to restore. Plus about 10% of recent imports are from the USA & Canada.

Some 'cross motor', many LC series and flambeau tractors (mostly LAs and some DEXs) were imported here to Australia. I have tried to find out how many but have not been able to get any reliable data.

They were imported here because much of Australian agriculture is 'broad acre', and these tractors suited our conditions especially in the wheat belt.

As soon as suitable diesel tractors became available the LC and flambeau tractors were phased out very quickly because kerosine was expensive here and they burnt a lot compared to the diesels. A lot of 500s, 900s and 930s were sold quickly, then these were replaced by large 4WD tractors.

I have not seen a genuine working LC or flambeau tractor in many years. They are now popular with collectors, but many went to scrap metal. I doubt that 25% of them still physically exist. There are some great restored tractors, many 'awaiting restoration' and a few still rotting under trees etc.
