well I got my SC up and it purs like a kitten now though i hooked my brush hogs pto to it, and also in the higher end grears the engine is really struggleing and begins to pop this i know is not right especially for running the pto and moving in 1st it is really struggleing. any ideas on what it could be. It idiles just fine and runs in 1,2 fine no struggle but in 3,4, and pulling with the pto it seems like it losses it's power. im open to any ideas, carb needing cleaning?, timing? im almost sure the engine itself is fine i really inspected it when cleaning it up.
let me know
Matt

I would try looking at the timing. I would turn the magneto or distributor a little and then put the tractor under load to see if helps and repeat the procedure.

Sounds like you might have acouple of spark wires crossed I did on a car once and it ran pretty just didn't have any power. Look on the head for the firing order and check to se that you are going in the correct direction on the mag. also check valve clearance a tight valve can cause alot of trouble or a week spring I had aweek valve spring on my LA boy what a differance in power when I fixed that.
