I just bouhgt a Case vac. that has brass plates saying it was the property of the Navy Department. The tractor seems to be sort of speedy, could the Military modles have a higher gear, or is it just me.

Yes it has vac then the ser. # on the dash, and 2 brass plates on the left side, with stats, size it needs for storage, weight, horse power, ext. and on on the right side explaining how to lift it, it has lifting lugs for loading it on a ship or maybe transport with a hellicopter? A few days ago when I was looking for info, I fond something abought Military isue Case tractors. I didn"t have time to read it and now I can"t find it again.

those are actually designated VAIW...You could have a VAC, that was sold to the navy...Sometimes they would put a "road gear", or possibaly a whole diffrent transmission in them.Tell me , does the shifting pattern look like a car H pattern, or is 1st, and 2nd away from your butt? that will be an indicatation of whether it's a VAI tranny or not.Good luck w/ your new tractor...

Are you sure it's a VAC? The tag on the dash will tell you for sure...It could be a VAI...
