While changing the hydraulic fluid and filter on my 830, I discovered in the bottom of the hydraulic housing the brake lining for the PTO clutch, broken in three pieces. This of course explains why the PTO would continue to turn when in the disengaged position and not attached to any equipment. Since the tractor is a '63 model and has the early style PTO ass'y (the comfort king has the later style), I am wondering if the brake can be repaired by removing only the hydraulic pump and then the PTO from the rear housing. If it requires removal of the entire hydraulic housing from the rear of the tractor and then pressing out the drum, I don't think I want to tackle that right now.
