I have a tractor that is known to be a VAC. The id plate is missing, and there is no hand stamped # on the engine flange. Is there any other way to id the year of this tractor. There is no hyd. pump, and no bolt holes in the rear end casting were the eagle hitch would bolt on. Thanks in advance Rick

You may be looking in the wrong spot for a serial number try the top right-hand side near the back of the block (where the head bolts on to the deck). Your model sounds like a 1942-1945 model. The eagle hitch was introduced in 1946 as an option and standard equipment in 1951.

The eagle hitch was introduced in the early 50s,
I think it was 1951.
I know that that doesn't really help, but maybe a little. There has to be a stamp on the flange. It may be covered in grime. scrape it and maybe spray some carb cleaner on it and wipe the whole lip. It is on the left hand side when sitting in the seat.

If you can determine whether it is a Case motor or a Continental motor, this would also narrow the year down. I believe 1946 was the last year for the Continental motor in the VAC. "No hydraulic pump"? Does it not have the side mounted pump that runs off the belt pulley shaft?

There is no side mounted pump. There is no filter in the torque tube, and there is no hole in the torque tube casting where the eagle hitch return line hooks up. Rick
