830 gas won't die

I have a 69 Case 830 gas that has been in the family since almost new. It has always been hard to kill when it is hot. It will set there and diesel for a minute or two before it will die. As a result of this problem it burns spark plugs up in a very short time. The parts man @ Case IH told me that it sounded like a problem with the shutoff valve in the carburetor. I don't believe the carburetor ever had such a thing. Has anyone out there had a similiar problem?

Here's the deal with the electric fuel soenoid shut-off on the 30 series tractors. The 930 Comfort King gasoline tractors had them b/c the tank was mounted behind and the engines used a fuel pump. As far as the rest of the 30 series, I believe only the grove tractors ever had the fuel solenoid.

Casey, I had the problem on my 730ck gas a few years ago. I started out I use to shut the fuel off first till it died, I solved the problem by putting 2 bottles of good fuel and carb cleaner in it and and putting new plugs in it and changed the timing, I have never seen a electric fuel shut off on the 30 series, Good luck Bill

I had a 580b backhoe that had an electrical shut off on the main jet and when you turned the switch off it shut fuel off and engine died.
This makes engine easier to start as it does not flood as it is winding down. Check with Case dealer.
I do not know if it is avaiable for the 830

Is your tractor idled up too high. Are the plugs black and carboned up.If they are its too rich ,check to see if the choke is open, airfilter clean and the mixture is right. It sounds to me like its carboned up inside and the red hot carbon acts like a spark plug and keeps firing gas.You might try some upper cylinder cleaner like blaster or marvel mystery oil down the carb ,water works real good to ,just drizzle whatever you use.Make sure the motor is warmed up.The water or blaster hits the hot carbon and makes it crack off the piston. Its always worked for me.
