Hi, Just got my tractor home and would like some of your great answers. Does anyone have a picture of how the seat attachment looks on the VAO? What would be the first steps in getting a tractor started after sitting for a year? You know how they say "it ran when I parked it"...and one last question, what is the power lift used for? Thanks,
Bob

The lift was used to lift implements on a VAC such as cultivator, corn planter, scyle mower, belly mower and even a crude early 3 point available from Case.

I have a '49 vao, but no pictures of the seat. Its different from the VAC seat, it is a metal pan that holds a square cusion and bolts directly to the rear end casting. You end up sitting much lower, just a few inches off the rear end casting. To start one after sitting a year, I would put a little marvels mystery oil or other lubricant down each cylinder. Do a complete tune up, and clean out the carburetor. Once you get it running, I'd let it get warmed up good and then shut it off and change the oil. Mine has the hydraulic lift too, and I can't imagine what it would be used for.

Funny I have lots of pics of orchard models but only one of the seat and its on a D series. The only thing i know is its alot lower than the regular seat. Mu uncle Walter had one but not sure which I think it might have been an SO. As for the stuck engine. I found that a year in some minds is more like 3 or 4 or even 5 I would take the head off just in case its a small cost to see if there is more needed to get her started. We are presently working on JD A that was supposed to have been run a year ago its agood thing we took it down becuase it was mess inside. Had got it free an run it know telling what damage we could have caused. the Power lift as you call it sounds like an Eagle Hitch Case's version of the 3 point hitch.
Good luck and have fun ou will enjoy this tractor.
