Does anyone know of a supplier for these retainers? I seem to be striking out locally, and the web-based vendors I have located all sell in huge bulk quantities.

I am looking for 5/16" and 1/4" retainers in both fine and course threads.

They will be used to secure the hood and grills on my 430.

Thank you for any leads or guidence you might offer.

Joe

I'm not sure where you live, but I recently purchased the very same part from the local bolt & screw company. The parts were made by Au-Ve-Co. Any local auto body supply company should be able to order Au-Ve-Co parts for you, since that is what they specialize in--automotive specialty fasteners. I believe the part number is 10773, and I paid 27 cents each. Good luck.

Older small hardwares sometimes have them. Lowes is the only chain home center that I've seen them.

Laymen like hardware clerks generally know that as "cage nuts".

You might want to try McMaster-Carr. I see they have some in the 5/16" sizes for $6.77/10 pack.

Ace has been the best source for most of my hardware needs on the restoration project. Unfortuately my Ace store doesn't carry these.
