Hi, I'm new to tractors, and I have my eye on a 1969 880 # 548968. Counter shows 233 hrs, owner says it resets at 10,000? appears in good shape, has loader in front and scraper in back, no apparent oil leaks other than small one on one of loader arms, PS, everything seems to work fine (but what do I know!) got chains too. My neighbour tells me I need 4WD (but he has a 1210 4WD to sell, alas w/o a loader)It will be used in a small outfitting operation in northern Que latitude of North Bay Ont, for snow, leveling, logging etc.Seems to me this would do the job. Judging by this forum, it is simple and reliable. 4WD is nice to have but is it a must
Thanks for any advice

One of the best tractors that David brown built. You would be more than happy with it. If you need anything more for info or parts i can help.

Thanks Elmer,
As mentionned, my neighbour has a 1210 4WD. Is this model as reliable and solid as the 880. It is a bit bigger than what I would prefer, but it has 4WD (is this a must or a nice to have?)but alas no loader. Do you know off hand what loader(s) would fit on this. The price diff would make the 1210 a better deal, but not if it is contantly in need of repairs

I would go for the 880 if you don't need the bigger horse power. The four wheel drive front axle on that 1210 can break you if it needs repairs.

Hey Elmer. Does the 1210 have a Carraro axle or did they use something else?

The 1210's i have seen used the Kramer front axle. The U joints are poison to buy. I tried to buy direct from Kramer in Germany but it was exclusive to Case only!

Did you ever have/hear of bad issues with the Carraro? Mine works great, no problems, just wondering!
