What's the most cid that you've heard of being built in a VAC 124 crankcase? Rules preclude use of a larger crankcase.

Is there room to go 3.75x5? More? Less?

3.75" will work for bore. 4.75" is about the max with stock rods. 5" will require custom rods due to cam location. If you can get by with a 148 block and crank it will be easier due to having a longer stroke to begin with. It will bolt in with out modifications, but is about 1/4" longer. Rear oilpan rail will have to be ground to clear flywheel.

Wanted to make sure it would fit before I started throwing money around.

Our club has the "can't use it if it's not in the parts book" rule for external parts in farm stock, so the 148 crankcase is out.

The 148 crank will not fit in the VAC block. It is longer due to a thicker rear throw. I was going to replace the crank in ours but ran into this problem. Decided to replace the block to after that. Good luck.

I've been told that the 148 crank will go, but takes some machine work to do it. I've got plenty of 124 parts so I'll use what I have.

.5" added to the throws and a .125" offset grind adds up to 5".

Looks like it's time to bring a crankcase into the shop and start measuring...
