Case introduced the 770 with the rest of the 70 series in late 1969 or early 1970. They were only made until 1973, when they were replaced in the Case tractor line up with comparible horsepower models from David Brown. Tenneco, who owned Case at the time, purchased the David Brown tractor operations in England in 1972 as a source of smaller tractors to compliment the larger 970, 1070, etc. models that were being built in Racine. Like many domestic manufacturers, it was more profitable to import David Brown tractors and rebadge them under the Case name than to continue to build the smaller models of the 70 series in the U.S.A. For many Case fans, the addition of the David Brown line was never quite accepted. I know of one Dealer in Oregon, Weber Brothers, who dropped the Case line after they stopped making the 470 & 570 tractors. They were in the Hood River area, and never excepted the David Brown models as orchard tractors. I worked for another Case dealer in Oregon who had good success selling 885, 990, 1210, etc. as small utility and dairy tractors. If a tractor can standup to that kind of use, daily scraping manure, it speaks for itself.
