My '61 830 won't hold power steering fluid at all. It doesn't just leak but it runs out, down the spindle on the narrow front, right where the spindle's square base mounts up into the steering unit. Anybody have any experience with that? I assume there is a seal or o-ring of some sort up in that unit that needs replaced? Looks like a fun job - will I need any special tools? All help appreciated. Thx.

Old Eb,I bought an 800 that didn't run and took the steering gearbox out and put it in my 830 and parted the rest of the tractor out and got my money back plus a little extra. dave

Got 2 830 NF and wondered the same
one has a bent spindle (ground hog hole)and leaks slowly. the other one has so much slop in it i have yet to open the tractor up in 8th gear. so I guess one day i will fix them. really want to find a wide front & put on. then i would put a loader on it for round bales in the field. skidsteer abuses me too much. the com & a loader would make a good combo i think.
just rambling

There is a seal up there. Its not pleasant but not really that bad either. I don't THINK you'll need anything special but its been a while since I have done one
