My Case 430 LCK tractor has developed a loud growling noise when the clutch is released. The clutch seems to either be disengaged or engaged; there is very little transition. I suspect a bad throwout bearing or maybe the whole clutch is bad.

I have manuals, but any helpful ideas, suggestions, etc. Also where can I buy parts for this tractor, especially in NE Ohio?

Hi Buck,
You may have a grease fitting on the throw-out bearing. Also don"t forget to have a little free travel before contact with the pressure plate. Without free travel the bearing would be spinning all the time. Best wishes, Dennis.....

Thank you for the info. I"ll check and grease all the fittings on the tractor. I recently bought it and have never greased it yet. I also found out (in talking with the former owner of the tractor)that the manual clutch lever on the left side of the tractor may be partially engaged. I"ll check that today as well as greasing the fittings.

Regards,

Buck Moran

Thanks for the quick reply. I recorded Binkley & Hurst"s phone number, I"ll call them tomorrow. I have no specifics on the clutch problem yet, but I wanted to line up potential parts sources before tearing anything down on the tractor.

Any other ideas or advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Buck Moran
