A friend has an old, old to me, case tractor w/front-end loader. The bucket assembly is Hough, the name plate says Case. All at this point all that I know is it is a Case, about 40 years old and has been outside for all those years. Looks complete. A lot of rust and cancer on some sheet metal.

The tractor is free as opposed to going to the scrape heap. I am certain the engine internally is rusted but can it be salvaged, I would say yes. If any one is interested in this I will get the model and serial numbers from the name plate. The tractor is located in O'Brien, FL 20 miles SW of Lake City near I-75 and I-10 crossing.

Carter

Hey Carter! Our orphan kids need some new projects in Cambodia. We'd be very interested if it is a "D" or "L" series. Let us know. I'll release the email address. I could use three or four other late model DC series (Eagle Hitch, live PTO). Bad engines, lousy tires, broken up hitch, no front wheels, all ok. In fact, if someone wanted the engine, I'd take the rest, but need the flywhell and clutch. I need to accumulate about 4 more to make a shipment.

Is it exspensive to get tractors shipped to you? How many tractors can you get on a container? Do the tractors have to be drained and dismantled before shipping. I often wondered how the tractors are transported.

I can get a 40'container shipped from the west coast for about $2200. My costs, to clear it at this end, run about $700-1100, depending on greed levels. If I take the tractors apart, and load them with a forklift, I can get up to seven in a container. So shipping costs run between $400-500 per tractor. You cannot ship tractors with fuel or oil in them, so yes, they are drained. As far as dismanteling goes, I take off the front end, if DC-3, and split them at the rear housing, which exposes the bull sprocket, take off the rear wheels. This allows them to fit in an 8 foot space. I can then alternate them front and rear, so that the axels overlap to a certain extent, pack wheels and such between them, and on top. It's a job but worth it. One more thing is that if the tractors are donated to a 501-C3 chairity (which we are), then a tax deduction is allowed for the reasonable appraised value.

Have several replys to this post. I will need to get more information on the unit and post today. Also there is a number of other farm equipment on location, i.e. bailers, haveresters, some self powered. I am not a farmer so I need to get the advise of one familiar with this type of equipment to identify it.

Will take pictures of all and post.
