I am looking for a little help from you guys. I usually come on to this board for info on my T0-20 fergie, but I justed pick up a Case Garden Tractor and I need some help. The Model # is 224-76. And the serial # in 9724665. I am currently in the process of re-wiring it and trying to get it to run. Any info on this tractor would be of great help. It came with a 48" snowblower which is why I got it. But it also came with a mower deck that is really solid. So if any one wants the deck I will try to take pictures and email them to who ever. Make me an offer and its yours. We can Iron out details later. But back to the real reason, any info on this would be appreciated tremendously. The colors are tan and orange with case in black and its Hydro Drive. Thanks again.

You might also try the Garden Tractors board on the YT site as well, good info there.

Another good source of info on Case garden tractors is the forum on Yahoo. I"ve had good luck there.

Go to Yahoo....groups.... and search for case lawn and garden tractors

I have quite a bit of experience with a similiar model a Jacobsen Garden tractor. It has a 12 horse Kohler and a case hydro rear end which is in remarkable shape. But if you're looking for schematics I can't help. Which motor are you looking at and does if have an updraft carb? My kohler has always been a hard starter that doesn't mean yours will be. I could use the deck if it's similiar year and attaches the same?

well 224 should be orange and black and it should have a 14 horse power a 321A motor there are ever things why it dont turn over the switches could be stuck or fuse blown but the guy said that the deck will fit a Jacobsen garden tractor is wrong there case only fits case that i know worked on enough of them

from what I have read on previous posts on here it has the 14 hp kohler. And I couldn"t even get it to turn over . Its not froze up or anything. Its just not getting any power past the relay I think..... so I have a three post relay I am going to put on and a new key switch and new wires. I will post my findings from tonight encounter. I can also take a picture of the deck and email it to you if you would like.

The garden tractor you have is a 14 hp and it is a 1976. This is one of the few years you can actually tell the year by the serial number.

Try the three post relay first (solenoid). These are just a contact switch. You might be able to jump across the two large post. This will buy pass the switch to see if it will at least turn over.

So I re -wired every to the black box that has terminals marked: L, B, F , A. Then I find out from my brother in law's brother that I re wired the box that runs to the alternator/ generator and this would not do anything to help me start it. I did learn what all of those letters stood for though. So I got a switch from napa and it is for a john deere/something else/ something else. And the posts on the new one read: I, S, A, B, L. I have four wires and five posts. I have the B wire from the box that I assume goes to the B on the switch. But there are a red and black wire coming from the coil and and a yellow wire coming from the solenoid that I have no Idead where they go. Plus to top it off this is a four position solenoid not a three. The guy before me had these external flashing lights on it so I took them off. The solenoid has the positive battery cable on the right post. Then on the post on the middle right it has the yellow wire. Then the middle left has nothing, then the left has a black wire that goes to the alternator, plus the white wire from the A on the black box. Then there is the green wire that come from the F on the black box that is on the the other post on the alternator. I am now confused even more. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Guys.
