I have a 1951 case vac that was a volt system positive to ground. I recently had it converted to a 12 volt. I noticed that it is now negative to ground. is this right? bought a new ampmeter gauge when i noticed. Does this affect any of my wiring now that it's a different system? Any responses would be great

The amp meter would still work...just backwards. I assume generator and regulator were replaced. Other than that the only thing that cares about polarity is the coil...the wires need to be reversed....which I guess they were or I don't think it would run

paul, yes the generator and regulator were replaced with an alternator. now i noticed in the manual it had tha amp meter connected to the negative side of the battery but it is now attached to the positive side would that correct the "backwards" you mentioned?

That should work. If you get a charge showing with the engine running then it ain't broke...and as we said in the Army If it ain't broke don't....with it :-)
