Have a 1952 DC-3. Engine ran and sounded good. Fixed all the oil leaks, removed the head, ground the valves, valve guides excellent, checked the cyliner walls, no ring groves, everything looked good. re-assembled, excellent compression. Worked hard and long hours to prepare for paint. Painted it, new decals. Really looked good. Made a mistake. Hooked it up to a disc and went to the field to show it off. Now, a wrist pin is knocking like hell. I have been around DC's enough to know what a loose wrist pin sounds like. So, my question, it has 3 7/8 in bore. I want to go bigger and now is the time to do it. Do I do 4" sleaves and pistons or 4 1/8. I understand, may be miss informed that 4 1/8 run a little rough. I don't plan on using a LP Head. Just need some advice.

the cam can make a lot of racket if the fiber washer is not replaced. Bought the brass replacment from don l and have the quiestes dc i have ever heard. neve thought a spacer behind cam gear could make this difference

wilson - Never thought of that but, knock is coming from one piston area, when you listen to it with something placed up to your ear it leaves no doubt that it is coming from No.3 piston area. I have had this experience many years ago and I remember the sound. And, that sound was a wrist pin. I have been wrong before. Thanks for the info.

gary; you could pull the one with bad wrist pin out thru the bottom and replace just one or youcan go and put 41/16 in tom

DCTom - Good idea, I thought of that, but want to go a little bigger. I have a Eagle Hitch 3-14 plow for this tractor and I want to do a little plowing match enjoyment with it. It does not have quite enough power. It will pull it, but makes it work to hard. We had a 54 DC with 4" pistons, with what they called High Alitude, or dome pistons. It handled 3-16 real easy. You stated 4 1/16, am I wrong on the 4 1/8. I thought I heard somewhere that you could get 4 1/8. No big deal, just don't know what to look for. Thanks

gary; 4 1/16 was offered by tsc and m&w, i think 41/8 would work but the sleeves would be getting rather thin, dont think you need that just for plowing tom
