I have 1951 Case DC that has been totally restored. It has 4 new tires, engine has never been touched and still runs perfect. My grandfather bought this tractor new and gave it to me in 1975. I restoerd it in 1987, unfortunatly Ineed money and I am thinking of selling it. What would it be worth?

If there is anyway you can keep the tractor, please do.

In 1978 my brother and I traded off a DC case that our father had purchased new in 1949.

Farming had changed and the tractor was not really needed. It is the only Case of 4 that my dad purchased new that we do not own. We were only allowed $300 for it on a trade against a 915 IH combine, but money was tight.

Don't think for a minute that we wouldn't give 10 times that today to have him back. I get a lump in my throat everytime I see an old DC4 and wonder if he shouldn't be ours.

That tractor was my dads 'big horse' and plowed 400 acres a year pulling a 3-14" Case trailer plow.

I would try not to sell a heirloom like that. I have the 36 Case CC that my granddad bought new. It is not for sale, under $1,000,000.

on the other hand a repainted, nice dc like yours should go for around $1500. or more.

I would try hard not to sell it. Its not worth a ton of money, but to you it might be since it was bought new by your family.

Some how totally restored and engine not touched doesn't go together.. Lack of eagle hitch live PTO and hydraulics reduces value as a tractor that people can put to use.. New tires are a plus. In PA about 1,200. That said as a family heirloom...priceless

NEW TIRES AND A PAINT JOB IS NOT WHAT I CALL A TOTALLY RESTORED TRACTOR. IT DOES HELP THE VALUE. 1000 TO 1500

Give us more information: Eagle Hitch? Narrow or wide front? Location of tractor? Tractor values vary depending on your location.

As I have found out (I am restoring 4 DC's right now), restoration is much more than a paint job and tires. It may look like new, but if it has never been opened up in close to 60 years, it has got to have some problems. Also, there are paint jobs, and there are paint jobs. You can go down to Farm and Fleet and get a $16 dollar pail of paint, or you can spend $150 per quart. All these things will affect value. There are very few DC's that sell for more than $2,000 although, there are a buch with $4,000 ++ invested. Tractor restoration is a labor of love, very hard to make a profit. I hate to bring you bad news, but I agree with the guys above, $1000 - $1200 is probably about tops.

If you are set on selling this tractor please let me know. I would like to find a DC in decent shape to do a complete restoration on. Thanks.
