Tough Question for experts on 580CK backhoe

So here a brief rundown

Have a 580CK Series D (non turbo)

Bullgear is damaged. Ordered a replacement and it didnt fit, ordered a second one and it didnt fit.

The transaxle is not the original as it is a different colour (telecom bought these and painted them a different orange).

Checked the gear we pulled out and it has 74 teeth and 17 splines. The manual says 75 teeth and 17 splines.

The gear we pulled out is about 4mm smaller in diameter but about 5mm wider than the replacements sent to us.

What transaxle do we have? I believe that a E and on have a finer spline so I pretty sure it is not an E, could it be a B or earlier?

Thanks for any help guys, I am enjoying this new hobby (but the wife doesn"t)

Mick

Ok first to hopefully simplify-you have a 580D that style trans-axle was used in C,D,E and early K models, also 480's check those. 580 B's used a different setup known as a torque tube. What style brakes are on it,do the brake hyd cylinders look similar to a car type? Also the trans axle sn should be located at the rear of the axle,i believe left side.

Brakes are that from a super E (ie turbo model). I have actually just replaced the brakes on one side so I can confitm that this is correct. The case parts guy has confirmed that this was the case for the model I have.

I have had a look for the serial number and have not been able to find it yet. i was led to believe that it was in the location mentioned.

How many tooth and spline in the gear you are trying to put in it,that you purchased? I take it 75 tooth. Most bull gears I pull don't have casting numbers, on that style of tractor. Making it fun ,if truley your final drive has been changed from another tractor. Go by the original tooth and spline configuration. For instance , a VAC has 66 and 67 tooth bull gears, 66 tooth go for iron and 67 tooth are gold.
My 2 cents,
Don L.
