Broken bolt on Case L exhaust manifold

OK, now I get the "Ham Fisted" award. That bolt that secures the exhaust elbow to the exhaust manifold on my Case L seemed to be slowly, with two weeks of spraying various rust busters, coming loose. It wasn't, its head was slowly coming off. Now its completely off, with the break just even with the outer edge of the flange on the exhaust elbow. One suggestion I've had is to heat the area on the manifold, into which the unbroken bolt goes, to cherry red, and then "the bolt should come right out." With the unbroken bolt out, the exhaust elbow should come off, and by heating the other side, where the stub end of the broken bolt protrudes, of the manifold to cherry red, "a vise grip should turn the broken bolt right out". Anybody got any comment on this suggestion, or any other suggestion?

Thanks, Steve.

Weld a 3/4" nut onto the stub. As soon as it loses color from welding, but still hot, back it out with an impact wrench on its lowest setting. I have done several this way.
